Netroute firmware 577

After asking some people, I have finally decided to post netroute’s firmware version 577 on my blog.

I hope I won’t be forced to remove it any time soon…so here it is: netroute-firmware-577.tar.gz

I won’t publish any update instructions. You are on your own…I don’t want to be held responsible if you bork your router…

Since you have already explored many of the NetRoute2D capabilities, do you know how difficult it would be to build a new updated busybox and compile it in a cramfs file?

Suppose we could build a new cramfs but which would be faulty, are there any recovery steps we could follow so as to restore the device functionality?

Congratulations on all your postings regarding the NetRoute2D.

    Kind regards,

    Panos.

I wouldn’t advise on building your own cramfs from scratch. If you could somehow get the developer build tree, then you could build your own binaries. Until then, just hold your horses.
As far as I know, netroute keeps a seperate copy of the currently working “firmware” on a seperate partition (when you upgrade it’s firmware it copies the working one to that partition first and then write over the first). That means that if you brick your netroute using a bad firmware and you have a serial cable you can make it boot from that “recovery” partition (take a look at boot messages from serial console). For further details though you should get in contact with the developers (if that’s possible) or look at the manual (if there’s anything written about it). I certainly can’t guarantee that any recovery process will work.

    Have fun 🙂
